Most
of us think of "romance" as requiring TWO,
but it isn't so! Here are some quick ideas to create romance
with or without a partner: |
|
| Light
up your life! Candles,
scented or not, are a seductive way to relax and enjoy the end of
the day when the sun has set. The soft, flickering light makes any
room romantic. Try tall tapers on your dinner table to add a special
touch to any meal, even if you are dining alone. |
| Dress
for love and romance! Wearing your bathrobe
or sweat pants around the house is depressing! Dress in clothes that
make you look and feel great instead of lying around like an invalid!
You'll feel more like being up for fun. And you'll be ready to roll
if you get a last-minute offer that changes your plans to hang out
at home. |
| Make
home a place you want to be in! Does
your house look like a disaster area you never fix or clean because
"no one ever visits me anyway?" Paint or fix ugly
furniture. Buy new sheets or replace your threadbare bath towels with
the thick and soft type found in luxury hotels. Just one
will make you feel sensuous and decadent every day! |
| Fill
your days (and nights) with romantic music. Classics
examples are crooners Barry White, Johnny Mathis, and Frank Sinatra,
but try some of "the classics" such as Liszt, Chopin, Vivaldi....even
the Beatles or Celine Dion enhance romance! Put on your favorites
and play them often. |
| Don't
wait for someone to buy you flowers to
enjoy the romantic touch they bring. Just a single, beautiful rose,
or an inexpensive bouquet romances a room. Tie a ribbon around the
vase for an ultra-romantic touch. |
| Color
your world! Red is the color of passion.
Other colors help you feel romantic. Experiment with soft muted pastel
tones, hot reds, vibrant greens, smoldering greys and browns. Pick
the ones that best express your romantic inner self. |
| Keep
a personal journal! Chronicle your own
love story -- or write a "love letter" to tell a special
friend that you are thinking of them. |
| Don't
wait for "company" to treat yourself to something delicious!
The way to everyone's heart is through a great meal. A good meal for
one is a treat to give to yourself. Don't forget to set an attractive
table, even if you're dining solo. It makes the food look and taste
better, and sets the tone for a great evening whether you're alone
or "a deux. "
|
| Celebrate
"just because!" A casual
"TGIF, " Saturday tea, or Sunday Brunch is another way to
bring romance to an otherwise ordinary week. Dim the lights, serve
romantic foods (E.g. fruit, cheese and chocolates) and revel in the
warmth and excitement of old friends and new! Ask your guests to "dress,"
even if it is just "the gang." |
| Life
is too short to drink the cheap stuff! THE
ADVICE SISTERS don't advocate heavy drinking alone, but if you enjoy
good wine you don't have to wait until you have a date or a party
to enjoy it. Splurge on a good re-corking system, or purchase "splits"
which are just enough for two glasses |
