Tips for Transforming Your Hair, from a Top John Frieda Stylist

Since May, the John Frieda See for Yourself Salon Tour has been traveling around the country stopping in cities like Orlando, Atlanta, D.C. and Philadelphia giving hair transformations to women for free *see the AdviceSisters Forums Post (http://advicesisters.net/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=129.0)

Celebrity stylist Harry Josh, sought after by A-listers such as Hilary Swank, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Gisele Bundchen (just to name a few) shared some tips on summer styling for Advice Sisters Blog readers. Summer hair can be challenging. Here are some of his tips (and suggested products) to make your hair calm, chic, and frizz-free:

Start with a shampoo and conditioner that helps block out moisture and keeps your style in tact. Harry suggests Weather Works by Frizz-Ease Weather-Proofing Shampoo and Conditioner from the John Frieda Collection. These types of products add a protective barrier to yur hair that helps shield out unwanted moisture (and lock in the needed moisture) so your hair stays healthy and shiny. They also protect againstUV rays that can damage hair and cause color fading (that "brassy" look no one wants).

Different types of hair have different styling challenges in the Summertime.

Tips for Styling Curly Hair: Not all curls are cute or pretty. Curly or coarse hair likes to get "big" (or "wild" ) in Summer's heat and humidity. If you don't want to wears your up or in a ponytail, here are some tips to make curls literally, shine!

Once hair is toweled dry, apply a frizz-fighter (Josh liked Weather Works by Frizz-Ease Weather-Proofing Style Sealent Crème). Work it in from root to end to help control the frizz and make hair more manageable.

Blow dry hair, wrapping pieces around your fingers to give it a natural curl.

Once your hair is completely dry, rub a small amount of a serum (e.g. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum) between your fingers and apply it to the ends. These types of products have silicone or other protective coatings that add instant shine and softness, and keep the frizz factor to a minimum.

Tips for Styling Straight Hair: Straight hair can get flat and stringy in the heat. Here's how to keep your sleek styles chic:

Apply a small amount of smoothing agent to your hair when it's wet to protect it from heat and styling damage (Harry Josh likes John Frieda Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum ) and then style. If your hair is dry, Josh suggests applying at bit rizz-Ease Secret Weapon Crème (a dime-sized amount will do) and smooth it from root to end for a smooth look.

Alison's Note: these are great suggestions, but good hair accessories and styling tools will also help you keep wild hair under contol.
...and if all else fails,
