When I was a child, there was nothing I loved more than getting a big, brand new box of crayons or watercolors. I'd open the lid and look lovingly at all the colors. Choosing the first color to use was always a challenge because they were all so beautiful! I felt exactly the same way when I opened the compact of the new, limited edition, Bobbi Brown Brights Palette $70.00 now at makeup counters. This gorgeous group of 35 tiny rounds of soft matte eye shadow organized by shade, was inspired by Bobbi at Fashion Week.

The collector's edition palette is housed in a sleek, black, signature, Bobbi Brown compact, but this one is a fold-out. When you open up both sides, there's also a nicely-sized mirror attached that folds to protect the shadows inside. Just like my childhood big box of crayons, this compact has an exciting range of bright colors including pinks and greens, blues and purples, yellows and oranges. It's hard to choose that first color! All of these shades are new and exclusive to this palette.

The Bobbi Brown Brights Palette isn't just for oogling, however. It's meant to give you a pop of color--one color at a time. The shadows are all matte, a welcome change from all of the glittery, super-shimmery shadows we've been seeing. The color intensity varies a bit depending upon which shadow you choose, but they qare all blendable. They were meant to be worn as-is, one-at-a-time, but I couldn't help but play around with layering a few. As with crayons and water colors, a palette encourages creative license! And, mostly, the results were good.
How do you wear these bright colors? It depends upon your style. If you're adventurous, just take that eye shadow brush, choose a color, swish your brush in it, and paint it on your eyelids. Some of the colors are bright but natural, especially the light yellows, and the blues, greens and purples. I had a bit more trouble with the deeper oranges and reds, but I still enjoyed trying them out in different ways. If you tend towards traditional, subtle colors, some of these might take a bit of getting used to. But change is good! Just use a light hand, or use these as accent colors or maybe even as a powder eye liner. Keep in mind that soon the warmer weather arrives, and it's not going to be a season to look subtle. Brights are going to be showing up in everything from dresses to shoes, handbags to halter tops, so you'll want to add some color to your eyes, too.
I've never gotten tired of my big box of crayons or a new box of watercolor paints. With this travel-friendly, eye shadow palette, Bobbi Brown has brought the fun back into makeup! It's your new, "big box" of crayons! Run and gets yours before the "other kids" get them!
