Dior Bronzers and Blush get your ready for Summer

The chic-est women and men will proclaim that if there was just one beauty product they could keep, it would be their bronzer(s). It's today's dont'-leave-home-without-it product, after lipstick. As for me, I admit that bronzer isn't my favorite product. My ruddy skin and freckles tans naturally orange, and I've discovered that most bronzers tend to make me look the same way, artificially. But bronzers are getting better and more natural each season, and I've finally become a fan. Today's prized bronze is a natural one that is sheer and glowing, not orange and shining like a beacon: "fake bake! fake bake! fake bake!"

Since Summer is a long way off, I decided to try a trio of bronze-ing products by Dior: Dior Bronze Original Tan $42.00, Dior Bronze Collagen-Active Smooth Protection Bronzer $48.00, and Dior Bronze Harmony Blush $42.00.

Dior Bronze Original Tan $42.00 is available in four shades. It's a pressed powder bronzer that's formulated with Dior's exclusive Sun Minerals Technology, so this new Original Tan blends seamlessly with your skin. The four shades arrive in Dior's signature, black compact with interior mirror, are distinctively stamped the Dior cannage quilt pattern. Soft, chocolate brown velvety covers keeps the bronzer clean and safe in your handbag. The lightest shade is "Healthy Tan 01" (soft peachy tan), followed by "Honey Tan 02" (golden tan), "Amber Tan 03 "(soft golden bronze) and a really warm and toasty peachy bronze called "Spicy Tan 04."

I don't have photos of the next two products, but I hope my descriptions will give you a good idea of what you're getting:

Dior Bronze Collagen-Activ Smooth Protection Bronzer is a lovely bronzer with a long name! This bronzer has SPF 15 to minimally protect you during the day from the sun's damaging rays, and the moisturizing formula does more than just make your skin glow...it also smooths and fills in fine lines so that your "faux glow" looks firm and flawless, too. It's a nice, moisturizing product that also comes in the same four shades as the Dior Original Bronze Tan. I tried the Amber Tan 03 "(soft golden bronze). I was afraid at first that it would be too dark, but I discovered that the sheer formula lets you deepen the tone very naturally. One swipe just took away Winter's pallor, two and three produced a tanned, and surprisingly flawless, face! The four shades are also packaged in Dior's signature, black compact with interior mirror, but this one also includes room for a very nice, short, flat, bronzer/blush brush. A Soft, chocolate brown velvety cover also keeps this bronzer clean and safe in your handbag.

Just because you are wearing bronzer, doesn't mean that you can't benefit from a bit of warmth in your cheeks. The Dior Harmony Blush is the perfect partner. The lovely compact with interior mirror and mini blush brush arrives in a striking, tortoise shell with an almost holographic CD embedded and gleaming through the top part of the compact. This one also has the same, soft, chocolate brown, velvety travel pouch. There are two different color combos. The one I tried "Coral Riviera 02" looks fairly fairly bright in the compact -- apricot, coral and bronse shades, outlined in glittery overlay "stitching" and distinctively stamped with the Dior cannage quilt pattern. When you swipe the brush over all of the colors, you don't really get a distinct blush color. You won't be able to tell if it's pink or orange, brown or red, apricot or coral. It just looks warm and natural -- a universally flattering, sheer but layerable glow.

All three products will be available at Dior Beauty Counters Nationwide in March, 2009
