Esther Nash's Baby Doll Sugar Daddy Shines at Brooklyn Fashion Week(End)

Bryant Park may be known for it's fashion shows, but that's not the only place fashion is strong in the City. Brooklyn is also full of talented designers, many of whom live and work in the Borough. This past Easter weekend featured Easter bonnets on Fifth Avenue, and a display of fashionable talent in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, at the 7th annual, Brooklyn Fashion Week(End). This showcase for new and emerging designers and models has helped launch several note-able fashion careers. The BK Fashion Week(End) showcasing Fall/Winter 2009 collections, gives the $10 suggested ticket price donation directly to it's parent non-profit, The Brooklyn Style Foundation (created to support young and emerging designers).

My favorite New York designer, Esther Nash, had a runway show at BK Fashion Week (End) this season. Her Baby Doll Sugar Daddy clothing line has the type of styles that hip, young socialites and celebrities (any any woman who liked to stand out), dreams about! Esther (on the far left in the photo) posed with some of her models before the show. In an unusual move, she also walked the runway, along with her sister, Shelly Nash.

Fort Greene is easily accesible, but I wasn't sure what to expect at BK Fashion Week(End). I was surprised at how professional the event was. But there is always room for a little more practice..in this photo Shelly Nash gives some pointers to a model about how to work the runway.

Singer "Camille" opened the show with a song

An energetic radio personality from "Hot 97" introduced the runway show for designers"Crow Hill."

While lovely "Miss Trinidad" watched from the front row.

The second show of the evening was Ms. Nash's. She had an impressive collection of distinctive, colorful, and wearable (although it helps to be in good shape) clothes. Her one-of-a-kind T-shirts often feature her logo or likeness, and are extremely eye-catching, especially paired with embellished Baby Doll Sugar Daddy line denim skirts, pants, and minis.

A one-size-fits all accessory is the stretchy, jeweled headbands worn across the forehead--they can be worn more traditionally as hairbands, too.

Ms. Nash said she was aiming for a "princess" vibe and that certainly fit the bejeweled headbands, jean jackets and T-shirts. But the mostly denim-oriented, urban-casual clothes also featured jewels, buttons, stars, and fringe, prompting one show-goer to suggest that the theme was more a cute and glam take on "cowboys and indians."

After the show: (From Left to Right): Shelly Nash, Designer Esther Nash, mother Dorothy Nash ( a trio of talented women)!

Esther Nash is not just a designer, she's a model and actress, too. Check out the Esther Nash Web Site: http://www.esthernash.com/ as she is truly a rising star!
