A Peek at Dolce & Gabbana's Golden Beams Holiday Makeup Collection

Dolce&Gabbana are developing a huge fan base of sophisticated women who adore their sensational, trendy, and wearable makeup. Dolce&Gabbana's Classic Cream Lipstick in Dahlia, seen last season on the Fall/Winter 2010 runway, had a waitlist as long a month prior to the official on-counter date of April 24 at Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC!

Available now for the holiday season, Dolce&Gabbana is serving up the glitz, with a collection called "Golden Beams." The color palette mixes shimmer with matte neutrals and golds. The outer compacts, naturally, are also elegant, shiny, gold. They have a modern glamour that reminds me of a time when women carried lipstick in tiny, sparkling, deco minaudieres, and bold applied it in public!

For party-perfect eyes, Dolce and Gabbana envision intensity, with metallics and shimmer, matched with warm, rich matte brown. There's a new, Smooth Eye Colour Eyeshadow Quad in Gold $59.99, and a Smooth Eye Colour Duo in Gold $36.00. I tried the latter. It features silky, shimmery shadows that are so luxe you can apply them with a fingertip if you felt like it. This compact features two generous squares of shadow. One is a bright gold that reminds me of 14K; and the other is a rich, browned shimmery shadow that glows like rose/brown gold.

I also tried one of the Lipsticks $30.00/each. They come in sleek, shiny gold cases worthy of a special occasion, but ready to enjoy on a daily basis. For a special date or a party, I love the Shine Lipstick in Gold #70 $30.00 Gold lipsticks can be difficult to wear, and, in fact, most of them don't really look gold. But one coat of this moist, sheer, lipstick gives you a hint of shimmery 14K, and several coats gives you a genuine, "Goldfinger" look. Still, it's shiny and moist enough to look elegant and glittery and festive, without being costume-y. The other two lipsticks are Classic Cream Lipstick in "Fire," and a Shine Lipstick in bold red called: "Sparkling."

Based on the Dolce & Gabbana holiday makeup items I tried, I think the rest of the collection will be amazing, luxe, and a splurge you will be happy to make. If you can only afford one little splurge for the holidays, make it from Dolce & Gabbana's Golden Beams Collection. You'll be "golden" in glamour, all season long.
