YSL's newest and sexiest scent: Parisienne
When I think of Paris style, Yves Saint Laurent immediately comes to mind. Now, YSL has launched a new women’s fragrance called: Parisienne.
Parisienne is: "the essence of a woman who knows how to love and how to live." YSL believes that women, anywhere, can adopt the values of being a Parisienne. The scent was created by perfumers Sophia Grojsman and Sophie Labbe of IFF. Sophia is a master of rose perfumes, including Paris, Trésor, Yvresse, CK Eternity, and White Linen. It has been reported that the perfumers envisioned a "grand floral with a woodsy structure, luminous even in its aspect of mystery (...) It is the perfume of ultra femininity, warmed by the imprint of the man who brushed against her."
The face of this new fragrance is Kate Moss. It is an inspired match, since although Moss is an English model, not French, she's now in her 30's and has lived at least, a little. In this campaign she exudes sex appeal. Moss is known as a "sort of a good girl with a bad girl image." Which is she really? Who cares? Her image in this advertising is, I think, just a bit "Debbie Harry", a bit tough but always chic. She holds a flower--she's vulunerable under that bustier. She sizzles and sighs, at the same time. It works.
So what about the fragrance? Does it live up to it's Parisienne name and sensibility? Absolutely! The scent is significant and lasting, undeniably lush and floral, but also sophisticated and sexy. It's a woodsy floral with some classic notes: Damask Rose, violet, peony, cranberry, patchouli, vetiver, musk and sandalwood. But it also has some interesting and more unique notes: vinyl gloss (in homage to the stiletto heel), and lacquer -- the scent of cosmetics, and of a hot night "up on the roof." Put it all together, and you've got the essence of a French woman!
At first sniff, the scent feels strongly fruity, but not in the ordinary, top heavy citrus that so many fragrances, feature. Instead, you can really smell the berry. But it mixes quickly with powdery violet and rose. As the scent dries down, you really notice the rose. This type of mix can often become too sweet, depending upon your body chemistry, but in Parisienne, the notes are artfully blended into the patchouli, sandalwood and musk, to create a romantic fragrance that has staying power and packs a romantic punch.
Capitalizing on the romantic but bold scent, is the outer packaging. The carton is soft pink and black, with the YSL logo in gradiated purples with "Parisienne" is bold, gold letters across the middle, is both feminine, and daring. The actual bottle is clear and faceted, with a sensual, round-ish gold top. It feels heavy and pleasant, nestled in the palm of your hand. It's evocative of YSL Paris, but this version is more elegant and elongated. .

YSL Parisienne has all the sophistication, sex appeal, and mystery you'd ever want from a fragrance. I like it a great deal, especially for a night-time or special event, scent. Wear this to holiday parties this year, and you might have tongues wagging! I think it will appeal to women of all ages, but mostly to women who are hoping to convey, create or recapture just a bit a naughtiness and sex appeal without crossing the line. You can experience it for yourself in various sizes ranging from $39 to $85. 00. In additiopn, you can visit http://www.experienceparisienne.com/.
