The Elvis Cruise Day 2 - Viva Las Vegas

Day two of the Elvis Cruise and the ship is rocking'! Not literally, from the movement of the waves (the Carnival Inspiration is really steady and smooth ride) but from music in every corner of the ship. Members of the TCB band held a panel discussion, as did three actresses who had roles in Elvis' Hollywood movies: Celeste Yarnall from "Live a Little, Love a Little;" Cynthia Pepper from "Kissin’ Cousins," and Chris Noel from "Girl Happy."

I took tons of photos and video, but the Internet situation is still pretty grim. There is just one satellite for everyone on board so it times out. As a result, I am not going to produce the photos and videos I promised "as they happen," but I will spend as long as it takes to get a report up to you, every single day.

For Elvis fan/guests on board, there were Elvis Tribute Artists all day long. Tomorrow, we dock in Cozumel, Mexico, and many will be snorkeling, seeing Mayan ruins, or shopping. But tomorrow afternoon, Elvis Tribute Artists re-appear on the Lido deck, and tomorrow night there's another professional show in the Paris Lounge (the main stage). There will also be a late night Elvis party, and more music, and more reports!


"The Musical Side of Elvis" panel featuringmusicians who played with Elvis, including: drummer DJ Fontana (who played with Elvis for 14 years, drummer Ronnie Tutt, pianist Glen D. Hardin, lead guitarist James Burton, and Elvis' musical director Joe Guercio.

*edited into this post is a video of Ronnie Tutt (drummer in the TCB band) along with Glen D. Hardin (piano) and James Burton (lead guitar) talking about the most challenging songs the TCB band had to play when they worked for Elvis. This was part of a panel discussion on Elvis's music.
