Givenchy Holiday 2009 Collection Inspired by Pearls

The Givenchy Holiday 2009 Collection takes inspiration from the gleam and beauty of pearls: white, gray and pink. Givenchy le Makeup artistic director, Nicolas Degennes has outdone himself, with soft, iridescent eye, lip, and face colors that look radiant, not gaudy -- a ladylike and pretty look for the holiday season.The pieces of the collection I received came too late to include in the What Works Beauty, Cosmetics & Fashion review column, but when I opened the package and saw how gorgeous these products are, I knew I'd have to share them on the Advice Sisters Blog. So....hre are some of my favorite Givenchy Holiday 2009 items pieces. They're splurge-worthy or must-haves, depending upo how you view it. And, they make fabulous holiday gifts.






For lips, the clear choice is Rouge Interdit Shine Lipstick $27.00 that comes in a lucky 13 different shades, from sheer, bright, pinks and barries, to nearly no-color nudes like, #24 "Pearl Shine." This silky lipstick is almost like a balm, thanks to a very moisturizing formula. A mirror-like shine effect makes even dry and aging lips look plum and youthful, courtesy of light-reflecting, mother-of-pearl and multi-hued shimmers. The lipstick itself arrives for the holidays in a smoked "crystal" tube with a pink gross-grain pull tag flecked with gold glitter. There's one of these (at least one) to excite every woman.


For those who love the easy, sex appeal and glamour of lip gloss, you can't help but adore the high wattage shine, in a shimmery, moisturizing wand formula, of Givenchy Gloss Interdit Gloss $24.00. Inside a chic, squared-off, wanded tube (with brush tip) , lies a treasure: an ultra-shiny lip gloss with both color and a plumping effect. This great for your lips product is enriched with high-performance skincare ingredients developed by Givenchy Laboratories. And if the great color and lip-loving bennies are still not enough to make you sure you need it, the scent of the gloss itself is a sexy, new facet of the "Espièglerie" concentrate (found in Rouge Interdit and Rouge Interdit Shine). The fragrance notes include top notes of bergamot, litchi, and red fruit; middle notes of rose, jasmine, and lily of the valley; and base notes of sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and musk. The effect is mostly fruit, with a touch of flowers. Givenchy makes the only lip products I know with true, French inspired, signature scents! There are 14 shades in a wide range of colors. I tried #21 "Elegant Pearl," a sheer, silver shimmer that looks deep in the tube, but so glossy and gorgeous on your lips, you can wear it as-is, or slick it over another, favorite lipstick. I also tried #20 "Tender Pearl," a very light pink shimmer that has a bit more color, and becomes a pouty, "patent leather" pale pink if you layer it on. These feel so sexy and fun, you'll want more than one. They make great gifts, too.

Speaking of glitter, every woman needs a bit of "eye bling" to go from daytime to party-time during the holidays. If you're not the type who loves bold glitter, why not try a more subtle but still festive approach? Givenchy Parad'Eyes Fluid Eye Liner $27.00 is a super thin-line, liquid liner with a high concentration of pigments with a sprinkling of mother-of-pearl particles for a unique, long-lasting intensity and shimmer. It comes in deep blue, black and brown, but it also comes in two more unusual and party-perfect ones:
#7 "Elegant Pearl is a gorgeous, metallic silver that lets you add a thin line of glimmer, or draw a thicker, more glitzy line. #6 "Tender Pearl" is a bright, metallic pink that can be blended onto lids, or worn close to lash line as a lienr. I added a silver line and layered a pink line over it, on bare lids (you could use a light shadow or highlighter if you wish) and made a festive, unique, party look. What's even better about these liners is that they last until you take them off without leaving pools of color or shimmer around or under your eyes. The thin line brush is nearly foolproof, so you can't mess it up!



And, for your face, the must-have, "go-to" face-saver, is the Mister Light Instant Light Corrective Pen $32.00. This "click-it" pen has sheer, blendable formulas that somehow, diffuse dark, undereye shadows. The product also helps to revive a sallow or weary, complexion. All you need is a little bit, strategically placed. I like mine under my browbone to add a little lift, there as well. The creamy, soothing texture is fragrance-free and contains SPF 10, to give you a little protection from the sun's damaging rays. But Mister Light also has something called "Actiwake Complex," exclusive to Givenchy. Two multivitamin-charged plant extracts actually help you skin feel refreshed and revitalized. I tried "Moonlight" an opalescent pearl (There's also Sunlight-copper and Dawnlight-pink).
