Godiva Home Fragrance Collections Strikes a Sweet Note

Godiva chocolates, in their now-iconic, golden boxes, have been the "Tiffany" of chocolates for over 80 years. When I was a teenager, I'd visit their store on Fifth avenue, and sometimes, treat myself to just one, special chocolate. Later, I thought that Godiva Chocolates were the ultimate "I love you" gift. If a guy was really serious about you, he'd send some, not just in the gold box tied with a bow, but sometimes, in a china candy dish.

But these days, many people are weight conscious. Another way to give a gift of Godiva chocolate is to gift someone with something from the new, Godiva Home Fragrance Collection. The undisputed queen of home scents, Laura Slatkin, CEO of Candela Group, is behind the decadent scents. The Godiva Home Fragrance Collection was developed by combining the talents of the fragrance industry’s master perfumers with the expertise of Godiva’s master chef chocolatiers. There are several different scents, but I tried the Milk Chocolate Truffle Candle $22.50 7 oz. (50 hr. burn time) 4 oz. travel candle tin $12.50 (10 hr. burn time).

Each box has a different colored accent to differentiate it from another "flavor." The Milk Chocolate Truffle has a copper and brown box with gold accents. It's key notes are brown sugar, caramel and vanilla mixed with rich, milk chocolate. You can't help but inhale...deeply. The opaque, black glass container for the chocolate truffle holds a chocolate brown (what else?) candle with cocoa butter (what else again?) that smells like liquid chocolate..without the calories. There's also a Black Almond Truffle candle, Raspberry Ganache, and White Chocolate Magnolia candle. For the holidays, there's also Peppermint Bark (in a red votive)

Who says there's nothing like a Godiva chocolate? Not anymore! These may not have the shape of truffles, but they have all of the goodness and delights of the confection. This is one gift you can give to yourself, but it's also perfect for anyone who loves chocolate, but has to limit the amount s/he eats. It's a perfect pick-me-up for any time, and of course, for Valentine's day.

These amazing candles are available at Neiman Marcus, Dillards Belk, and selected other stores nationwide.
