Badgley Mischka Fall 2009 Runway Show Fall Fashion Week 2009 -An Advice Sisters Feature *all text and photos by Alison Blackman Dunham
Badgley Mischka is a designer line known for glamorous evening wear. While some still were experimenting with wacky concept pieces, the day, cocktail and eveningwear that floated down the runway for Fall 2009 from Badgley Mischka, featured classic shapes and feminine and elegant, luxurious looks. There was a bit more color, and fewer embellishments, beads, sequins and glitz, but the beautifully draped and wrapped clothes, featuring accentuated waists and luxurious fabrics, still were red-carpet ready.
There were some elegant daytime looks in silk and wool, toughened up a bit with large handbags and stiletto boots with buckles and platforms.
Lots of draped fabric that gathered at one shoulder, or plunged gracefully in the front.
There were gowns for evening, minus the beads and dazzle

Hair & Makeup Notes: I didn't go backstage for this show, but makeup artist Tom Pecheux for M.A.C. was quoted as saying his inspiration for the makeup look really coordinates with the look of the Badgley Mischka brand itself: that sleek, elegant, young, beautiful woman who dresses up for dinner in a "Grace Kelly-esque" way. The skin was matte, the eyelids, deep, shimmery blue plus a hint of gold, subtle rose on cheeks, lavender lip gloss on lips. Key Products: .M.A.C Eyeshadow in "Deep Truth" and "Goldmine," M.A.C. Cremesheen Glass in "Ever So Rich" and Pro Lash Mascara in "Coal Black." The hair, by stylist Peter Gray, was a more modern take on the chignon. He wrapped a donut-shaped pad around hair and rolled it up and pinned it. Then he used lots of hair spray to keep it in shape. This is one look where "dirty" hair actually is a plus...it grips better! Key Products by Redken: Workforce #09 and Guts #10
