Tony Cohen Fall 2009 Runway Show Fall Fashion Week 2009 -An Advice Sisters Feature *text, video and photos by Alison Blackman Dunham
Dutch designer Tony Cohen has a sparkling smile, and an optimistic outlook. He told me that his Fall/Winter 2009 collection was all about confidence and optimism.
*these photos courtesy Mercedes Benz Fashion Week His Fall 2009 collection was all about simply cut and draped, easy to wear (and easy to like) clothes for young (or at least young-ish), sophisticated women who don't need a lot of frills and embellishments to feel confident. The weren't as many pops of color as in other collections I saw during the week. Instead,Cohen made his statement and showed excitement, with bold prints, asymmetrical hems, slim pants and leggings, and layered looks that real women with real figures can still wear without ridicule. Women will feel optimistic and confident in these clothes.
Clothes this strong, clean and architectural need strong hair and makeup that compliment but won't compete. I wasn't backstage to watch Ted Gibson produce the sophisticated, sleek hair look, but I'm guessing he used products from his own line. And the bold, dramatic makeup was produced by makeup artists Makky and the M.A.C. Pro Team. Nails were by Alisha Rimando for Dashing Diva.
