Ebay's Doing a World of Good for Holiday Shopping with WorldofGood.com

Fall is here, the holiday season is fast approaching, and you'll want to start thinking about holiday gifts. One new "find" is a new marketplace from eBay, called: WorldofGood.com! This site was created by eBay and World of Good, Inc. and the product you'll find here were selected for the positive social impact they have on the people who create them, and also on the environment.

Many products on the site are fair trade certified and are either made by impoverished artisans from or farmed by small farmer cooperatives in the third world. For example, this set of colorful Masai Bangles (just $12.50 with free shipping).

Most of the products on WorldofGood.com are also created from recycled, reclaimed and/or sustainable materials, creating an eco-friendlier impact on the planet than using all brand new materials. In fact, many products available on WorldofGood.com are considered "upcycled" products, new products created out of partial or full materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

eBay is offering other ways for you to shop for the holidays and do good, as well. eBay "Giving Works" is eBay’s program for charity listings. It connects people with causes they care about to facilitate convenient and trusted fundraising. Buyers can shop, knowing that proceeds from these listings each benefit a notable nonprofit.

MicroPlace is the world's first and only online brokerage specializing in socially responsible investments that alleviate poverty. This holiday, give the gift that can change someone's life by investing in the working poor of the world.

Does the Sex and the City Movie make women buy on Ebay?

I have heard so much hype surrounding the new, Sex and the City movie opening at the end of the week, but I admit, I can't wait to see it--SATC has been a "gilty" pleasure even in re-runs. And, let's face it, SATC has influenced fashion so much that I'm sure it will once again have women running to buy Manolos and name-chain pendants.

how are are the women of Sex and the City’s stylish habits affecting American women’s purchasing patterns?

Women who like Carrie's style love her range of uptown chic to whimsy to sex kitten (stilettos are a staple and she can usually be seen with a flirty floral accent) . Over the past month on eBay, sales of Flower accessories and handbags increased 21% ; Sales of Manolo Blahnik shoes increased 64% ;

Women who like Samantha's style--she exudes sexy confidence through strong styles and bold color. Over the past month on eBay, sales of brightly colored women’s clothing increased 174% ;
Sales of La Perla intimates increased 19%

Women who like Charlotte's sweet, preppy style - she loves bows, cute prints and feminine styles play up the kind nature of her character. Over the past month on eBay, sales of Preppy women’s clothing increased 6% ; Sales of Ralph Lauren women’s clothing increased 13%

Women who like Miranda's style--a mix of sophisticated mom look with chic corporate suits and androgynous styles. Over the past month on eBay, sales of menswear women’s clothing increase 61% ; Sales of Helmut Lang women’s clothing increased 29% ;

**all data represents sales on eBay from 4/18/08 to 5/16/08**

eBay Style Director Constance White says: "Style-wise, "Sex and the City" was the most influential fashion program of our time. It's no surprise that the movie is hotly anticipated by fashion lovers everywhere. Everyone wants to see where the ladies and the show's fifth character - the fashions - are almost 10 years later.

When the new, Sex and the City movie opens in a few days, we'll all know for sure what's hot (and what's not)
